Elite Certainty and Legitimizing Ideology: The Case of Capitalism In Hierarchical Societies

We developed a measure of capitalist beliefs based on arguments made by an economic elite. In two studies with 603 participants (49% female, M_age = 46), the measure predicted opposition to progressive economic policy and support for conservative and neoliberal social policies, above and beyond other traditional measures.
