A Novel Image-Based Paradigm for Studying Simulations of the Approximal Future

Simulations of the approximal future (what may happen next) serve a threat detection function, whereas more distal simulations tend to focus on positive outcomes. Using a novel image-based paradigm, we provide additional support for a valence-based differentiation between approximal and distal simulations and show that approximal simulations are more accessible.
