Abstract

Cis-heteronormativity is the societal assumption that everybody is cisgender, heterosexual, and endosex, and can be held by cisgender-heterosexual and LGBTQIA+ populations. Across two studies, this research explored LGBTQIA+ people’s beliefs about the innateness and stability of gender/sex (i.e., gender essentialism) and how much they deny discrimination towards LGBTQIA+ communities.
