Abstract
Using the PISA 2022 dataset from 80 countries, we examined gender differences in adolescents’ leadership aspirations and how national gender equality moderates them. Meta-analytic regressions revealed a small but significant male advantage. Paradoxically, this gender gap widened in more gender-equal contexts, highlighting a gender equality paradox in leadership aspirations.
