Abstract
Racial self-expression among Black Multiracials can shift across contexts, influenced by social evaluation and situational cues. Among 275 U.S. participants, social interaction anxiety, identity invalidation, and discrimination predicted greater shifts. Anxiety dampened shifts linked to family invalidation but amplified shifts linked to general discrimination, reflecting context-specific pressures on identity negotiation.
