Abstract
We conduct an experiment to examine how Hongkongers’ identity distinctiveness threat enhances collective nostalgia, which then exacerbates intergroup bias against Chinese Mainlanders; this mediational link could be moderated by their Hongkonger and Chinese identification. Findings contribute to understanding bicultural identity in postcolonial contexts and expand research beyond Western-centric, immigration-based models.
