A Classroom-Based Assessment Tool for Evaluating Moral Reasoning In Upper Elementary Education

Abstract
This study developed and validated the Moral Reasoning Questionnaire (MRQ) for elementary students within the MVP Character Education Curriculum. Seven Kohlberg-based dilemmas were piloted with 170 students, analyzed using Rasch modeling. The MRQ showed reliability (α=.70) and construct validity, providing a practical tool for assessing and improving moral reasoning instruction.
