Abstract

This study examined whether religiosity and spiritual practices differ between psychedelic users and non-users. Among 299 U.S. adults, psychedelic users showed lower religiosity overall, yet those using for spiritual reasons reported greater private religious activity, suggesting spirituality and religiosity reflect distinct, experience-based expressions of the sacred.
