Psychological Mechanisms of Risk and Perception In Cryptocurrency and Informal Money Systems

This qualitative study examines how individuals perceive risk, trust, and anonymity within cryptocurrency systems in the U.S. and informal money networks in Africa. Using open-ended questionnaires, interviews, and focus groups, the project explores cognitive, cultural, and emotional mechanisms that shape judgments of legitimacy, vulnerability, and financial system safety.
