How to Design a Trigger Warning: The Impact of Trigger Warning Wording on Affect, Expectations, Intrusions, and Felt Respect

We conducted two independent studies examining how differently worded trigger warnings affect affective responses, expectations, and intrusion experiences. Our findings suggest that trigger warnings are most beneficial when they specify the upcoming content and outline the potential emotional reactions associated with it.
