Adult Attachment for African American Women Who Have Mothers with Borderline Personality Disorder

Abstract
Transcendental phenomenological study- experiences of how having a mother with BPD affected adult attachments for African American women. Purposeful and snowball sampling were used to recruit 11 participants. Analyses revealed that while they could form positive views of close relationships, they presented adult attachment orientations indicative of dismissive-avoidant and anxious-preoccupied.
