Testing Envy As a Mediator In the Effect of Similarity on Performance and Prosocial Behavior

Greater similarity with a superior person is theorized to produce stronger envy, which then could motivate better performance and prosocial behavior.  Similarity is usually tested using demographic characteristics. In this in-person experimental study, we manipulate similarity in a perceived personality trait (warmth) and test the full mediational model.
