Abstract

This study examined emotional intelligence, crystallized intelligence, and fluid reasoning as predictors of Cluster C personality characteristics in 400 U.S. adults. Hierarchical regressions showed that lower emotional intelligence and reasoning predicted greater avoidant, dependent, and obsessive-compulsive characteristics, highlighting emotional intelligence as the strongest protective factor against anxious-fearful personality features.
