A Preliminary Feasibility Study on Predicting Counseling Service Intensity from University Counseling Records: A Decision Tree Analysis of Service Frequency and Duration

This study used decision tree models on 3,911 university counseling records to predict service intensity. Models including problem categories and crisis tags achieved moderate accuracy (AUC = .72–.73). Key predictors were physical, academic, psychological, and interpersonal problems, supporting early identification of high-need students.
