Abstract
This study examined how adherence to or violation of expectations that older adults should retire shapes perceptions across intersecting identities. Young adults rated older adults (Black, White; men, women). Adherers were viewed more positively, especially older Black adults, whereas violators were judged equally harshly across groups.
