Abstract
Two experiments (N=396, 511) investigated how political leaders’ race affects perceptions of Black Lives Matter advocacy. White participants judged White leaders as less genuine, predicting lower collective action intentions and weaker perceptions of inequality. Black leaders elicited the reverse pattern, indicating group membership shapes responses to racial justice advocacy.
