Abstract

Across three studies, individuals high in intellectual virtues, intellectual humility, actively open-minded thinking, and need for cognition, showed stronger myside bias but greater accuracy in evaluating own-side arguments. This suggests that myside bias can reflect thoughtful prior analysis grounded in personal values, rather than irrationality or biased cognition.
