Emotion Socialization in the Form of Positive Affective Balance and Preschoolers’ Emotional and Behavioral Skills: The Roles of Emotional Display Rules and Gender

This study examines the association between mothers’ positive affective balance and preschoolers’ emotional/behavioral skills. Findings highlight the importance of caregivers' emotional/affective balance in their interactions with children as a predictor of children's prosocial behavior, and highlights the role of gender and children's emotional display rule behavior as underlying this process.
