Attentional Deployment during a Sad Film Is Associated with Depressive Symptoms in Young and Older Adults

In adulthood, age is positively associated with well-being. Young and older adults reported their mood repeatedly after watching a sad film clip. In both age groups, attention to negativity in the film positively predicted and reappraisal negatively predicted depressive symptoms. Attentional deployment training could improve mental health across adulthood.
