Abstract

Despite evidence that career calling enhances well-being, its "dark side"—the prediction that calling leads to workaholism and exploitation under specific conditions—remains unclear. Across 11 countries (N = 3,300), we use a person-centred approach to examine how culture-based work beliefs (moral duty, destiny beliefs) interact with calling to predict negative outcomes.
