Marital Status Is Significantly Associated with Schizophrenia Diagnoses in Justice-Involved Populations

Among 23,293 justice-involved individuals receiving mental health services, marital status significantly predicted schizophrenia diagnoses. Contrary to general population, married individuals were more likely to be diagnosed than those never married, while separation was associated with lower odds. Demographic moderators shaped these associations, revealing novel, institution-specific patterns in justice settings.
