Abstract

This talk demonstrates how sensorimotor representations acquired through handwriting practice (but not typing or visual study) confer advantages beyond handwriting itself, improving letter recognition, naming, and reading. These findings elucidate sensory-motor integration as a fundamental mechanism for acquiring abstract, amodal concepts and broader literacy skills.
