Abstract

A series of studies will be reviewed in which magnetic resonance imaging of the brain was employed to examine the functional and structural correlates of age differences in episodic memory. The findings indicate that while brain structure is highly sensitive to advancing age, functional measures explain considerably more variability in memory performance.
