Abstract
The proposed study extends adaptive memory theory by investigating the effect of early maladaptive schemas on memory encoding in individuals with Alcohol Use Disorder. Hypothetically, alcohol provides profound relief from schema driven psychological distress and social isolation, triggering survival processing. Likewise, with a modern day health crisis such as withdrawal.
