"My Mental Health Took a Huge Hit": Navigating Negative Student Evaluations with Emotional Regulation

Faculty members experience disproportionately high levels of stress and are prone to mental health issues. ¹ A qualitative interview of 25 faculty members, across diverse fields/institutions, found anxiety and avoidance behaviors were common. The findings suggest equipping faculty with intrinsic and extrinsic(e.g. institutional cultures) forms of emotional regulation is essential.
