This talk highlights lessons learned from studying emotions in Hawaiʻi, emphasizing the importance of considering cultural identity, historical context, and trust in emotion research. It critiques the assumption of universal emotions, arguing that emotions are shaped by cultural, historical, and political factors, which challenge simplistic cross-cultural comparisons.
