Abstract

We examined the association between continuous ratings of physician empathy and global perceptions of physician empathy (N=141 dyads). Regression results revealed peaks and ends of dynamically perceived empathy predicted global empathy ratings, while averages, minimums, and beginnings did not. Peaks and ends may be critical in forming perceptions of empathy.
