Abstract

Support behaviors within intimate partners’ aggressive conflicts may represent effective conflict resolution and prevent future aggression. Alternatively, receipt of support may reinforce aggression use over time. For 6 months, 448 partners reported on support during aggressive incidents. Significant inhibitory effects of support were observed, although notable exceptions are described.
