The Effect of Verbal Encouragement on Perceived Difficulty of Exercise

We investigated if verbal encouragement affects the perceived difficulty of exercise. Participants (n = 65) participated in a walk on a treadmill. One group had verbal encouragement, the other did not. Results showed that verbal encouragement did not significantly impact the difficulty of walking.
