A Phenomenological Investigation of Authenticity and Self-Perception in Substance Use Disorder Recovery

We propose to conduct a phenomenological investigation into how self-perception theory and authenticity interact to influence substance use disorder recovery service engagement. We expect to recruit approximately ten participants, and hypothesize that some individuals experienced concerns of authenticity in early recovery, which increased their likelihood of disengaging from recovery services.
