Military Service and Mental Health Days Among Rural Texans: A BRFSS Analysis

Abstract

Using the Allostatic Load Model of Stress, this study examined predictors of rural mental health using the 2021 Texas BRFSS data. Military service showed a trend for fewer unhealthy mental health days (p = .097), with males (p < .001) and higher education (p = .003) significantly predicted better outcomes.
