Abstract

We examined whether misplaced certainty (discordant and paradoxical knowing) mediates the relationship between actively open-minded thinking and resistance to partisan misinformation. Among university volunteers (N = 86), active open-mindedness was related to disbelief in incongruent partisan misinformation, with discordant knowing (strong beliefs opposed by others) potentially explaining this relationship.
