Abstract

This study examined whether 3- to 5-year-olds can distinguish between a success and a failure event by relying on prosody. Results showed that 3- to 5-year-olds can use context specific prosody to interpret a categorical meaning (success, failure), and the ability to interpret prosody appears independent from word meaning comprehension.
