Abstract

Basic Psychological Needs Theory provides a useful framework for understanding childbirth satisfaction, which matters to mothers’ well-being. We found that support from providers during childbirth for mothers’ needs for autonomy, belonging, and competence is a greater predictor of childbirth satisfaction than provider type or number of interventions.
