Abstract

This naturalistic exploratory field study investigated the impact of wearing headphones on expressions of gratitude in campus dining halls. A total of 6,173 students were observed, providing observations frequencies of gratitude expression in three conditions—no headphones (55%), one headphone (8%), or two headphones (12%)—across two locations.
