Abstract

Our research compared typologies of mass shooters across U.S. regions. Results showed the prevalence of ideological mass shooters varied by region, with more in the U.S. South. Findings suggest that psychosocial factors more common in the South, such as culture of honor, may increase the likelihood of ideological mass shootings.
