Motivation Profiles Among Minoritized Students: Motivation Styles Relate to Unique Profiles of Academic Success

Abstract

The present study explores whether minoritized students’ self-reported academic motivation related to distinct profiles of motivation and differences in academic success. Utilizing the SDT motivation continuum, results showed six unique profiles with many significant differences in school belonging and academic engagement across profiles, but few differences in grade point averages.
