The Impact of Social Context on Effort Allocation: Competition Vs. Collaboration

Expending effort is crucial for goal achievement, but effort is often aversive and avoided. In our study, a competitive context led to an increase in willingness to seek and exert effort, while collaboration led to a decrease. These results add to our understanding of how social factors impact effort valuation.
