The Physiological Effects of Emotional Dissonance

Abstract

Emotional dissonance is the conflict felt when outwardly displayed emotions differ from internal feelings (Kenworthy et al., 2014). A within-subject study measured the effects of surpressing positive emotions on heart rate variability.
