Abstract

The harmful effects of medical gaslighting (MG), wherein patient concerns are invalidated or dismissed, are currently understudied. Our study found that experiencing MG is associated with greater pain catastrophizing (PC). Given the important role of PC in worsening pain-related outcomes, ways to remediate the occurrence of MG are essential.
