Abstract

Gender stereotyping in word and face processing was investigated using ERPs. Participants performed gender categorization on face targets and lexical decision on word/non-word targets. Faces were primed by stereotypical words and words by female/male faces. Stereotype-congruent and incongruent prime-target pairs elicited distinct N400, P300, and LPP effects, revealing stereotype asymmetries.
