Ideal-Self Discrepancies, Depression, and Self-Efficacy: A Life History Theory Perspective

Abstract
We examined and found evidence that participants’ depressive severity grew as their ideal-discrepancies grew more among fast-life strategists than among slow-life strategists. Current-evidence suggests this was due in part to differences in fast and slow-life strategists’ self-efficacy.
