Abstract

Tilt refers to differences in two abilities on standardized tests (SAT, ACT), indicating strength in one ability (e.g., math) and weakness in another (e.g., verbal). Math tilt (math>verbal) and verbal tilt (verbal>math) increased at higher levels of general intelligence (g), a pattern consistent with differentiation theories.
