Abstract

We explored the bidirectional relation between listening comprehension (LC) and reading comprehension (RC) in 283 Chinese children (135 males, Mage=10.05) over 1.5 years. Cross-lagged analysis showed LC predicted later RC through reading fluency, while the reverse pathway via semantic prediction was not significant, highlighting distinct bottom-up and top-down processing mechanisms.
