The Majority of Violent Offenders in United States Prisons Receive No Treatment
- Amberlee Weber

Abstract
In 2016, nearly 40% of U.S. inmates were violent offenders, yet 90% lacked mandated treatment, and 66% received none post-admission. This neglect undermines efforts to reduce recidivism, improve community safety, and cut costs, highlighting the need for greater integration of rehabilitation programs into sentencing and prison practices.
