Can We Trust the Wanted Poster? Confidence and Accuracy for Composite Sketches

We examined the relationship between an eyewitness' confidence in their sketch and the actual resemblance of the sketch to the target. The results indicate that confidence is predictive of sketch quality, suggesting that police should consider including confidence ratings as part of their standard process when creating composite sketches.
