Using Undirected Networks to Study Directed Psychological Mechanisms
A motivating assumption of psychometric networks is that direct causal links exist among nodes. This assumption is in tension with the undirected networks that are commonly fit to data. We introduce frameworks that align research questions with models, add directed edges to undirected networks, and leverage network structure for prediction.
