Exploratory Investigations into Developmental and Maintenance Factors in Misophonia

Sunday, May 26, 2024 · San Francisco, CA

Oral · General

Misophonia involves overresponsivity to specific sounds and can cause distress and impairment. We present four diverse studies exploring potential developmental and maintenance mechanisms. We examine predisposing factors, co-occurring mood symptoms, theorized maintenance behaviors and possible dysfunctions in learning mechanisms. Implications for future mechanism studies are discussed.
