Abstract
This research explores cross-cultural variations in health consequences of social anxiety by comparing indices of well-being and behavioral adjustments in nationally representative data (MIDUS; MIDJA). We hypothesize that the negative health consequences of social anxiety may be attenuated in Eastern (interdependent) than Western (independent) cultures due to heightened behavioral adjustments.
