People Don't Really Know How Variable Their Emotions Are: Is That a Problem?

This study examines how ESM anger and happiness variability compares to single, face-valid questions about variability. In our ESM sample, correlations between happiness and anger variability questions and intrapersonal standard deviations were significant but weak. However, both predict similar outcomes, indicating that both be related to an underlying variability construct.
